Presentation of the mission:
In Iraq, an estimated 4.1 million people remain in need of some type of humanitarian assistance, with over 1.4 million based in Ninewa governorate and nearly 300,000 in Dohuk governorate (Humanitarian Needs Overview, 2020), where Action Against Hunger is operational. Action Against Hunger has been operating in Iraq since 2013, following the sudden massive influx of refugees fleeing the Syrian crisis. Iraq’s 2014-2017 conflict with Islamic State (IS), with multiple military campaigns to regain control of Iraqi territory, resulted in several waves of displacements. In response to this, Action Against Hunger’s main focus is on Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL), Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and Mental Health and Care Practices (MHCP). Some of Action Against Hunger’s main donors in Iraq include OFDA/BHA, GIZ, SDC, WFP, GAC, EU through MADAD and ACF.
Security, working and living conditions: ACF intervenes in highly unstable and unpredictable areas. Therefore, security regulations are regularly updated.

Position Particularity: ACF is one of the few INGOs with significant core funding, working with the team to ensure that we utilise those funds well and strategically to help people is a rare opportunity within the NGO world.
While Iraq is never dull, short of challenges, the opportunities that ACF has to make a positive change in the lives of our beneficiaries in the current context more than compensates for the challenges that we face. Join the team here and make a difference.
