Currently Action Against Hunger is responding to a humanitarian crisis in Cox’s Bazar where 617.000 Myanmar Nationals fled across the border to Bangladesh. Action Against Hunger has scaled up the nutrition activities in the refugee settlements, while continuing to implement existing activities for the Host Communities of Cox’s Bazar. Action Against Hunger implements 5 Stabilisation Centres and support to 5 Government stabilisation centres, 118 Outpatient Therapeutic Programme centres, 4 Targeted Supplementary Feeding centres, Blanket Supplementary Feeding Centres, kitchens providing hot meals, Infant Young Child Feeding in Emergencies counselling etc. The activities are implemented in close collaboration with WASH, MHCP and FSL departments.
The coordination with health and nutrition partners is crucial during the emergency to ensure collaboration, good programme coverage, thus more lives saved. It is important to represent Action Against Hunger and use experience and knowledge of Action Against Hunger for advocacy and for the development of tools used by the sector.
As Country Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the development, funding and implementation of the Bangladesh country strategy and the growth of program portfolio that effectively addresses the underlying causes and effects of malnutrition in line with ACF's values, Programming Principles, and Strategy.
You will lead a process of change management as the Country Team downsizes in response to a reduction in funding.
You will restructure the country program to reflect a new strategic direction for program activities in Bangladesh.
You will create a new strategic direction for the Bangladesh country program towards sustainable multi-year programming and exploring opportunities for program expansion.
The team is large (1500 staff) but will need the leadership of the successful candidate to restructure to meet the needs of the future program, which will be a challenge and will likely require a strong manager to work with staff, community and local government to manage the process.
The program is diverse and includes both humanitarian and development programs which need the attention of an experienced individual to manage the SMT in meeting their goals.
You have 10 years of experience, including senior level experience for a large multi-sector national program of Euro 30 million,
You show advanced leadership and project management skills, able to manage a large multi-sectoral team in achieving humanitarian and development goals,
You are able to represent the country program at a national government and coordination level, including with media,
You have strategic development and implementation skills, including management and goals setting for a large senior management team
You have experience leading a multi-cultural team implementing a complex national program, and ensuring systems are in place to ensure a sufficient level of quality control to ensure program objectives are being achieved
You are able to demonstrate knowledge of creating staff, management and program structures that ensure quality in program impact and achievement of goals.
Contract: 24 months fixed term contract under French legislation
Compensation and benefits :
• Monthly gross salary from 3370 to 3895 € upon experience
• Perdiem and living allowance: 531 € (cf eurocost) net, field paid.
• +150€ as country allowance
• + 16% of monthly gross. For non-French citizen for retrocession of retirement and unemployment insurance.

This will be a challenging role, which will reward a manager able to reshape the program in to a stable platform for humanitarian and development activities that can have a national reach for many years to come.
