General description of the position

Under the supervision of the Deputy Country Director, you’ll contribute to implement and monito Mental Health & Care Practices (MHCP) programs as well as the development of MHCP interventions according to ACF and international standards and national policies. More precisely, the main responsibilities are:

  • Manage and assist the MHCP teams at all bases to ensure highest quality of MHCP component of the ongoing programs with focus on nationalised department for sustainability 
  • Monitor and coordinate programs that include mainstreamed, integrated or standalone MHCP 
  • Expand on the current integrated MHCP strategy, positioning and external coordination according ACF’s country strategy and  the government strategy
  • Integrate Monitoring Evaluation Accountability and Learning (MEAL) department within MHCP interventions

Do you fit the requested profile ?

You hold a Psychologist degree. You have at least two years of field experience with NGOs at coordination level. A previous experience in managing psychosocial programs in the field in coordination with other technical departments is compulsory. 

Your diplomacy, your context sensitivity and your team management skills enable you to evolve in stressful contexts. 

Excellent English skills are required.


Specific conditions / Salary

Country allowance is allocated for this position (12% of the gross salary)


Work context

MHCP projects ongoing in Afghanistan : there are currently 4 MHCP projects, and 6 pending submission. All of them are integrated with multi-sectoral departmental responses to undernutrition in remote regions and complex operating environments in Afghanistan. MHCP is integrated within developmental multiyear projects integrated with WASH and Nutrition/Health sector, as well as one-year humanitarian projects integrated with WASH, Nutrition/Health, and Food Security and Livelihood. The MHCP department here is the primary technical referent for protection mainstreaming and integration, gender mainstreaming, and MHPSS integration. There is an increasing focus on the mitigation of Gender-Based Violence in particular. The MHCP country strategy is currently developing a commitment to protection, gender and integrated programming to ensure the MHCP department is a significant contributory factor to quality programming.
