General description of the position

The mission:

Action Against Hunger began  working in Bangladesh since 2007 following the floods in Shariatpur and  cyclone Sidr. Since then Action Against Hunger has been working to fight  against hunger, malnutrition and responding to humanitarian crisis in  Bangladesh. At present, Action Against Hunger is running its programmes  in South-west and South-east of Bangladesh.

The activities with  refugees in Cox’s Bazar started in 2009 and as gradually increased and  extended to the Bangladeshi community in 5 different upazillas.

Over  the years, the organization has built strategic relationships with  local/national partners strengthening their capacity by cross learning  and extended support.

25 projects are on-going in Dhaka, Satkhira/Barguna and Cox’s Bazar.

Currently the main programms are:

  • Nutrition & Health is at the core of Action Against Hunger’s programming.
  • Food Security and Livelihood
  • Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)
  • Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRR&M)
  • Mental Health and Care Practices (MHCP)

The position :

Overall management of all internal and external reporting, optimization grants management processes, assisting with proposal writing, donor relations and local fund raising

Main responsabilities

Support the elaboration of donor reporting documents and ensure the follow up of the mission’s reporting obligations in relation with the Country Director (CD), the Deputy Country Director (DCD) and Divisional and Deputy Divisional Director

  • Develop and update tools for tracking and planning external reporting processes
  • Updating the donors’ folders with templates, guidelines, etc., and ensure that the donors’ guidelines are known and respected by the mission’s team
  • Respect the deadlines and the compliance with the donor guidelines and requirements
  • Acte as focal point for collecting, sharing and archiving the projects’ documents
  • Support the MEAL and communication team in capitalizing learning from report outcomes
  • Ensure that the questions and comments from donors, auditors and evaluators are handled in coordination with the audit department

Ensure proper relationship with donors and support local fundraising

  • Coordinate responses requested by donors
  • Participate in the research of donor funding opportunities with the CD, DCDs and FCs
  • Support to CD and DCD-Programs in relations with other donors, on program development, and strategic issues, as delegated
  • Support the CD in building relationships with major donors or companies and make presentations
  • Research fundraising opportunities and write grant applications to potential donors
  • Manage information and record the profile and fundraising activity of donors on a database
  • Ensuring major donors or companies are happy with their donation scheme (such as a charity of the year partnership) and are kept informed of progress and milestones

Contribute to the development and roll out of the mission strategy in relation with the CD, DCD and Divisional and Deputy Divisional Director

  • Participate in initiatives taken by the mission with regards to the strategies and its objectives
  • Contribute to the training plan for the mission especially with regards to the capacity building of writing skills
  • Participate in the drafting and preparation of concept notes and full proposals in coordination with DCD
  • In coordination with the DCD, check and ensure the quality and coherence of the documents, in compliance with guidelines and donors requirements
  • Integrate information and recommendations drawn from previous programs, donors meetings, evaluation reports, informal recommendations, etc.;

 Proactively support ACFs commitments to gender equality, child protection and disability sensitivity

  • Ensure a full understanding of ACFs Gender Minimum Standards & Child Protection Policies
  • Implement all work related activities with a gender, disability and child protection lens
  • Ensure the incorporation of gender equity principles in all policies and activities
  • Encourage the participation of all genders in meeting and on committees
  • Help build an inclusive office environment where people do not feel disadvantaged or judged according to their gender or limited due to manageable disability.

Do you fit the requested profile ?

You hold a Masters Degree in social sciences or equivalent and you have at least 3 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, fundraising and team management. 

You are known for your excellent english writing and communication skills, sense of organization and rigorous work. 

A technical background in WASH, Nutrition, Health and FSL will be a plus.

Knowledge on gender aspects will also be a plus.

Specific conditions / Salary

Contract12 months fixed term contract under French legislation

Remuneration and benefits :

  • Monthly gross salary from 1805€ to 2305€ upon experience.
  • Per diem and living allowance:  532€ (cf eurocost) net, field paid.
  • + 16% of monthly gross salary as reimbursement of retirement insurance for non-French citizen.

Transportation and accommodation:

  • Coverage of transportation costs to and in the mission.
  • Individual room in guesthouse covered

 Medical coverage100% coverage of medical expenses + repatriation insurance.

 Leaves and RnR

  • 25 days of paid leaves per year.
  • + 20 RnR per year.   
  • + 215 € at each RnR period (averagely every 12weeks).
  • Coverage of the transportation expenses to the RnR area of reference.

Work context

The mission in Bangladesh has grown tremendsly over the past year hence adapting its systems to accommodate this growth and financial/program complexity. Currently we have a team of over 850 national staff, 1300 volunteers and 14 expatriates . The missions handles over 25 projects at the same time for a total enveloppe of 25M Euro. As a foreward thinking mission, we have taken a lot of different initiatives and are open for innovation and creativity.
