General description of the position

Under the supervision of the Nutrition & Health Emergency Coordinator, you will provide support to the Nutrition & Health programme managers in the development, implementation and management of the health and nutrition activities as well as monitoring and evaluation of the project in collaboration with the Nutrition Expert. You will support also the coordinator in the area of supplies and team management. 


Main responsabilities

Internal and External Coordination

  • Representation of Action Against Hunger in external coordination mechanisms and any other relevant coordination mechanism in the absence of the Coordinator
  • External coordination with international and local partners, as well as local implementing partners
  • Implementation and facilitation of internal weekly Health and Nutrition Program Managers meeting
  • Coordination with other Action Against Hunger sectors to ensure smooth implementation of activities

 

Contribute to the development, implementation and management of Health and Nutrition Interventions 

  • Provision of inputs in development of health and nutrition strategy
  • Support to Health and Nutrition Managers to develop project proposals, donor reporting, LFA, targets, budget, in collaboration with the Nutrition Expert
  • Quality insurance of health and nutrition activities in collaboration with the Nutrition Expert

 

Health and Nutrition Team management

  • Management of his/her team (leadership, coordination, monitoring, motivation, etc)
  • Definition of HR needs for the implementation of health and nutrition activities
  • Follow up on recruitment status and support health and nutrition program managers for recruitment process

Do you fit the requested profile ?

You hold a Master degree in Public Health, Medicine or Nursing with 5 years minimum of professional experiences and 2 years prior experience in a similar position. You are recognized for your technical expertise in nutrition & health programming and experience in project cycle management, and analysis and evaluation into operational planning and strategy.

You have a strong ability to provide technical support in project proposal development and in conducting needs assessments. You have as well strong skills in capacity-building development, training and coaching.

Excellent diplomacy, negotiation and representation skills (nutrition & health cluster mechanisms) are required thus team management experience.

Your English is fluent (spoken and written).


Specific conditions / Salary

Status: Employee 


Contract: 8 months fixed term contract under french legislation


Remuneration and benefits:

Monthly gross salary from €1600 to €1975 upon experience.

Per diem and living allowance: 532€ net, field paid.

+ 16% of monthly gross salary as reimbursement of retirement insurance for non-French citizen.

+ Child allowance, limited to 5 children.

Transportation and accommodation:

Coverage of transportation costs to and in the mission.

Individual room in guesthouse covered

 

Medical coverage100% coverage of medical expenses + repatriation insurance.

 

Leaves and RnR

25 days of paid leaves per year.

+ 20 RnR per year.  

+ 215 € at each RnR period (averagely every 12 weeks).

Coverage of the transportation expenses to the RnR area of reference.

 

Training:

Free and unlimited access to the certifying e-learning platform Crossknowledge ©.

Technical trainings at HQ or regional level (averagely 1 per year). 

Intermission Workshop once a year.


Work context

Currently Action Against Hunger is responding to a humanitarian crisis in Cox’s Bazar where 617.000 Myanmar Nationals fled across the border to Bangladesh. Action Against Hunger has scaled up the nutrition activities in the refugee settlements, while continuing to implement existing activities for the Host Communities of Cox’s Bazar. Action Against Hunger implements 5 Stabilisation Centres and support to 5 Government stabilisation centres, 118 Outpatient Therapeutic Programme centres, 4 Targeted Supplementary Feeding centres, Blanket Supplementary Feeding Centres, kitchens providing hot meals, Infant Young Child Feeding in Emergencies counselling etc. The activities are implemented in close collaboration with WASH, MHCP and FSL departments.

The coordination with health and nutrition partners is crucial during the emergency to ensure collaboration, good programme coverage, thus more lives saved. It’s important to represent Action Against Hunger and use experience and knowledge of Action Against Hunger for advocacy and for the development of tools used by the sector.


Security, working and living conditions: 

Cox’s Bazar is a major tourist destination in Bangladesh and therefore it can be crowded and noisy. However you have opportunities to go out for diner and have some social life. However, there is a curfew, and movements are restricted for non Bangladeshi staff. The refugee settlements are about 1 hour from Cox’s Bazar. The Rohingya population is conservative and therefore suitable clothing is required. Cox’s Bazar is hot and humid. Walking through the settlements can be physically challenging due to the heat and the hilly conditions. During rainy seasons, the refugee settlements are muddy and slippery.
