Action Against Hunger has had a long history of presence in Sierra Leone since 1991 and in Liberia since 1990, and has been operational since then throughout the civil wars, the Ebola crisis. For the last few months, ACF has supported the countries fighting Covid-19 and its consequences, while pursuing longer term, structural interventions. ACF has currently a portfolio of programs primarily consisting in health system strengthening, food system and WASH, including WASH epidemiology. Throughout its activities, ACF is committed to support the national civil society.
In January 2018, the two countries were clustered and have since then operated under a single management structure. Action Against Hunger has approximately 130 staffs and works with 10 partner organizations from the non-profit and private sectors across the two countries.
You will based in Freetown where the living conditions are good, and social activities are available with several organisations based there. The security context remains stable but supervising both countries with regular movements to all our bases in Sierra Leone and Liberia.
As Country Director, you are responsible for overseeing the development, funding and implementation of the mission's strategy and the growth of program portfolio that effectively addresses the underlying causes and effects of malnutrition in line with ACF's values (Charter), Programming Principles, and Strategy. Youa lso ensure that systems / procedures are in place and being properly implemented, and that they ensure the proper management, well being and safety of ACF staff, and the proper use of ACF resources.
More precisely you also lead the Country Strategy process: ACF country strategy documents are meant to be developed by each country office by the end of 2021’s first quarter, in order de provide a synthetic overview of the country office’s strategy for the next five years (2021-2025) and its coherence with the ACF network International strategic plan for 2021-2025.
You have about 10 years of experience, including senior level experience.
You have advanced leadership and project management skills, able to manage a multi-sectoral team in achieving humanitarian and development goals
You are able to represent the country program at a national government and coordination level, including with media
You have strategic development and implementation skills, including management and goals setting for a large senior management team. You are experienced in leading a multi-cultural team implementing a complex national program, and ensuring systems are in place to ensure a suffecient level of quality control to ensure program objectives are being achieved
You are able to demonstrate knowledge of creating staff, management and program structures that ensure quality in program impact and acievment of goals. If you can demonstrate networking and advocacy skills and or if you have management qualification, it would be advantageous.
