Notre environnement de travail

Cabo Delgado province, already one of the most vulnerable and poverty-stricken provinces of Mozambique, has been affected since late 2017 by armed conflict perpetrated by Non-state armed groups which continued to destabilise pockets of territory, generating new waves of displacement and constantly undermining the provision of humanitarian assistance.

As of 2023, the conflict had displaced over 1 million people (both returnees and IDPs). At least 2 million people are estimated to require immediate humanitarian assistance and protection in Cabo Delgado and in neighbouring provinces of Niassa and Nampula.

Furthermore, the humanitarian access situation for aid and assistance delivery in northern Mozambique is challenging, mostly due to insecurity, operational constraints to reach affected populations due logistics obstacles, limited financial resources, and bureaucratic administrative burdens for humanitarian organisations.

Mozambique faces multiple shocks, including the conflict in Northern Mozambique, frequent natural hazards and disease outbreaks. The international community has been working to address the crisis, restore peace, and stabilize the province. Humanitarian efforts are underway to provide aid and support to the displaced.
