Our work environment

Action Against Hunger (ACF) Nigeria Ltd/Gte has been operational in Nigeria since 2010, successfully implementing integrated programs across Nutrition, Health, Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL) and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and Social Protection. Since 2017, the mission has expanded significantly in response to the conflict in Borno State, prioritizing long-term, system-strengthening initiative for the Health, WASH, Social Protection and Agriculture sectors.
Since 2018, ACF has also been one of the leading agencies in implementing the Rapid Response Mechanism (RRM) in Northeast and Northwest Nigeria, including Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Jigawa and Sokoto states, providing urgent humanitarian assistance to the displaced populations.  In 2021, ACF Nigeria launched a humanitarian response in Sokoto State in Northwest Nigeria following the cholera outbreak.
With the support from the German Government and The Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FSCO), ACF Nigeria is contributing to the expansion of the Borno and Adamawa State Social Registers and strengthening Inclusive Social Protection Systems.  The organization is also advancing rights-based interventions in Jigawa State as part of its broader commitment to supporting vulnerable populations and promoting sustainable, community-centered development.
Currently, ACF is implementing multi-sectoral emergency and development-oriented programs in Yobe, Borno, and Sokoto States reaching 30 92 772 individuals.

Your position and responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Country Director, your missions will be as follows:

Your profile

You hold a degree in social science, international relations, international development, humanitarian response or a related field, with a minimum 7 years’ INGO experience in insecure settings in a similar role. Prior ACF experience in emergency and post-emergency context is an asset.

You have the ability to organize, train and motivate a multicultural team, with excellent strategic leadership, communication, written, diplomatic and negotiation skills. You are able to transfer knowledge and to mentor and coach individuals or groups.

You are disciplined and able to work independently, and to define coherent and integrated strategies thanks to your strong skills in analysing situations and identifying key issues.

You also have sound decision making and practical problem solving abilities, the capacity to interpret and analyse numerical data, and the skill in sourcing, synthesizing and using relevant information.

Your employment conditions

Why join us?

Despite the remarkable achievements in the humanitarian sector, ACF Nigeria, like other humanitarian actors, has been continuously affected by the shrinking humanitarian space due to the security context caused by the operation of non-state armed groups.

The Field Office is located in Maiduguri. A Sub Base with limited number of staff is located in Damasak, relatively insecure location. A small ACF contingent is co-located with partner agency in Yola, Adamawa State.

Currently the mission has a significant portfolio in Maiduguri. ACF is a key player in the push to increase programming for vulnerable populations in Northeast Nigeria through increased advocacy to several donors who have signalled an interest.
